Job DetailsWe are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager to lead our procurement operations and manage a team of three buyers.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food manufacturing, chemical manufacturing, or nutraceutical manufacturing, with proven expertise in Excel and ERP systems.
This role is pivotal in ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing of ingredients, packaging, and other materials necessary for custom product manufacturing.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the daily activities of the procurement team, ensuring alignment with production schedules and business objectives.Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships while negotiating pricing, lead times, and terms to support cost-effective operations.Source raw materials and packaging components that meet quality, regulatory, and specification requirements for custom client formulations.Collaborate with R&D, Production, Quality, and Sales teams to ensure materials are available for new product development and custom projects.Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance.Optimize inventory levels by balancing cost control with production needs.Maintain accurate procurement records, data, and reports using Excel and the company ERP system.Analyze spend, identify cost-saving opportunities, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.Ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory standards related to purchasing and vendor management.Train, mentor, and develop procurement team members to build a high-performing, proactive department.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.5+ years of procurement experience in food manufacturing, chemical manufacturing, or nutraceutical manufacturing.2+ years of experience in a management or supervisory role.Strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis, etc.).Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.).Strong negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills.Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.Knowledge of regulatory requirements in food, dietary supplements, or chemical manufacturing is a plus.Preferred SkillsExperience managing custom formulations or made-to-order production environments.Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, or other quality management systems.APICS or other supply chain certifications a plus.Interested in hearing more?
