Scope of Position
The Ohio State University Medical Center is committed to enhancing patient care quality. The Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA) functions as an integral member of the patient care team, promoting a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team provides patient care and supportive services aimed at achieving quality outcomes, improving service levels, reducing hospital stays, and lowering costs.
Position Summary
The AA is a certified non-physician anesthesia provider demonstrating excellence in anesthesia practice, including case management, staff education, and clinical research. The AA manages complex anesthesia situations and must be competent in technical, cognitive, and interpersonal skills required for patient care. The AA practices within established guidelines, statutes, policies, procedures, and protocols, adhering to the Intensive Caring Value Statements. The AA collaborates with an MDA in anesthetic care as part of the patient care team.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire:
- Master's Degree from a CAAHEP-accredited anesthesia assistant program (18 or 24 months)
- Current certification from the NCCAA
- Current licensure from the Ohio State Medical Board
- Current ACLS certification
- Eligibility to obtain clinical privileges as designated by the OSUMC Credentialing Office
