Overview

Lecturer AY - Performing Arts at California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI). The department invites applications to teach private lessons to undergraduate music majors. Areas of expertise include piano, voice, percussion, winds, strings, and other instruments as needed. Teaching needs are determined annually based on student enrollment and program priorities.

Responsibilities

Teach weekly private lessons to music students in their instrument of choice.

Participate in departmental juries, auditions, and student recitals as appropriate.

Minimum Degree Requirements

Master of Music (M.M.) required; Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) preferred.

Required Qualifications

M.M. in Performance, Music Education, or a closely related field; D.M.A. preferred.

Demonstrated expertise and professional experience in the applicant's primary instrument or voice area.

University, college, or advanced high school teaching experience.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to student success and the programs mission.

Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and ensemble directors.

Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to contribute to juries, auditions, and recitals.

Ability to engage with a broad student population and mentor student academic success.

Preferred Qualifications

D.M.A. or equivalent professional experience.

Professional performance experience (solo, ensemble, or recording).

Experience in student recruitment and mentorship.

Familiarity with current pedagogy and instructional technology.
