Paramedic Instructor
Great Basin College (GBC) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Paramedic Instructor to join our EMS education team.
This full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position focuses on teaching in the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Paramedicine and other EMS programs (EMT & AEMT). You'll have the opportunity to teach across a range of settingsincluding classroom, lab, clinical, and onlinewhile helping shape the next generation of emergency medical professionals.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in a related field (Bachelor's preferred)
Current National Registry or Nevada Paramedic certification/licensure
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ITLS or PHTLS
At least three years of experience as a practicing paramedic
EMS Instructor Endorsement or equivalent (must be obtained within 45 days of hire)
Must obtain AHA Instructor certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS within 90 days of hire
Must obtain instructor certification in PHTLS or ITLS within 90 days of hire
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects effectively
Student-focused and self-motivated with a collaborative attitude
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in EMS, education, or a related field
Experience with distance education or virtual teaching technologies
Prior instructional or training experience in EMS education
Ability to organize and implement multiple projects simultaneously
Demonstrated commitment to student success in a diverse learning environment
Key Responsibilities
Teach EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic courses in-person, online, and in clinical environments
Supervise students in labs, simulations, and real-world clinical settings
Coordinate clinical placements across the GBC service region
Prepare instructional materials and follow approved curricula
Evaluate student performance and learning outcomes
Support curriculum development, program evaluation, and accreditation efforts
Participate in college committees and departmental initiatives
Travel
The position may require driving to other GBC campuses, with or without reasonable accommodation as per the Americans with Disabilities Act, with possible overnight stays to coordinate students and programs throughout the service area. There must be a commitment to the GBC mission to serve rural Nevada.
Compensation Grade
Academic Faculty 2
B Contract - 9 month (end of August to mid May) working contract paid over 12 months.
The budgeted salary range for this position is $47,000 - $70,000
Salary is based on relatable education and experience, internal equity and budgets.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees
Great Basin College is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee's spouse or domestic partner.

Newly hired faculty must assure that their official transcripts are sent by the degree granting institution(s) to Great Basin College Human Resources Office within 30 days from the effective date of employment. Regionally accredited institutions must have awarded academic degrees.
