Overview

Job Title: Assistant Professor - Feminist Science Studies

Department: Arts and Sciences Womens, Gender and Sexuality Studies

Position Overview: We are seeking a theoretically inventive and methodologically creative tenure-track assistant professor whose scholarship is situated in feminist science studies broadly defined. As an interdisciplinary department, we welcome candidates from a broad range of fields, including science and technology studies, disability studies, critical public health, environmental studies, carceral and surveillance studies, technology and digital media studies, among others. Topics may include artificial intelligence (AI) and its societal implications from feminist perspectives; algorithmic bias and critical data studies; feminist climate science; environmental justice; climate modeling and feminist refugee studies; feminist critiques of scientific practices, methodologies and epistemologies; technologies of reproduction; surveillance technologies and biometrics; gaming; and the digital divide. Ideal applicants will center transnational, intersectional, and/or decolonial approaches within feminist science studies.

Performance Objectives

Develop and maintain productive research program

Teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels

Demonstrate excellence in student mentorship

Support department through service on committees, projects, and/or administrative leadership roles

Education and Experience Requirements

Required: PhD prior to appointment on August 15, 2026. ABDs welcome to apply.

Desired: PhD in womens, gender, and/or sexuality studies or in allied fields or disciplines.

For fifty years, Womens, Gender & Sexuality Studies (WGSS) at Ohio State has developed into an outstanding academic unit and intellectual hub.
