Job Description
Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Medical Science Liaison, GI in the Virginia/W. Virginia territory.
Role and Responsibilities
Provide fair balanced, objective, scientific information and education to opinion leaders (OLs), health care professionals, and internal partners as required by scientific and business needs.
Serve as a scientific and clinical knowledge lead on current and future J&J Innovative Medicine products per Therapeutic Area (TA) alignment.
Stay abreast of current scientific and treatment landscape trends in their therapeutic areas of interest.
Provide research support for company and investigator-initiated research.
Build external relationships with identified OLs and health care providers and develop and manage a geographical territory.
Engage in both virtual and in-person interactions, prioritizing in-person engagements when appropriate.
Develop and maintain a territory strategic plan, including educational activities with identified OLs, HCPs, institutions, and community practices.
Rapidly identify and compliantly collaborate with field-based partners to support Healthcare Providers and positively impact patients.
Apply Change Management, Time Management and Innovation competencies; conduct activities in accordance with regulatory and health care compliance guidelines.
This is a field-based clinical position requiring travel, primarily throughout assigned geography, with infrequent travel outside of geography. Travel estimated at 60%.
Summary Responsibilities
Strategic Territory Planning: Develop and maintain a field strategic plan; respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries from HCPs/investigators/health care systems/academic medical centers and population health decision makers, integrating scientific data including real world evidence into practice.
Present data appropriately to the audience; execute reactive and proactive outreaches as approved via the legal/HCC exceptions process.
Prioritize franchise customer-based initiatives and field responsibilities while balancing administrative duties and projects.
Executes Research Initiatives
Engage with external investigators regarding unsolicited research inquiries and act as liaison to R&D, Medical Affairs and operations teams.
Provide clinical trial support to identify potential sites, resolve issues with enrolled sites, and participate in meetings including site initiation visits and investigator launch meetings.
Scientific Acumen
Participate in team calls, trainings, and journal clubs; attend scientific conferences to gather new information relevant to the company and the external scientific community.
Document and share medical insights; allocate time for self-driven learning on the current scientific landscape.
Represent and support J&J at relevant scientific or stakeholder meetings including congresses, symposia, advisory boards and investigator meetings; may include speaking engagements.
Operations and Internal Partners
Complete administrative requirements timely, accurately, and compliantly (e.g., expense reports, documentation of activities).
Provide regional and local support to enhance sales training initiatives and improve competencies of field personnel in partnership with Sales Learning and Development.
Communicate and collaborate with field-based partners and other Immunology MSL teams regularly.
Understand and apply MSL SOPs/guidelines and company HCC/Regulatory/Legal guidelines.
Qualifications
PharmD, PhD, MD, or other advanced medical degree, NP (Nurse Practitioner), PA (Physician Assistant)), with 2+ years relevant TA clinical experience. Ability to support travel up to 60-70% including overnight travel and some weekend commitments. Ability to drive to or fly to various meetings/congresses/headquarters. A valid U.S. drivers license and clean driving record. Residence within the defined assigned territory.
Preferred
A preference of 2+ years relevant work experience including clinical, research, fellowship, or pharmaceutical work experience with presentation skills. Knowledge or experience in the relevant TA and/or Immunology work experience. Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and utilization of computers and remote technologies. Reside in or near a specific city or state: Pittsburgh, PA, Washington DC, Alexandria, VA, Bethesda, MD.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is : $115,000-$197,800

Subject to terms of plans, employees and/or eligible dependents are eligible for medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and other benefits.
