Macdonald & Company is pleased to be exclusively retained by one of its favorite clients to appoint a Director of Capital Raising & Investor Relations to help drive the company’s next phase of real estate investment growth. The group is a private equity firm based in Austin that focuses on multifamily acquisitions.

Job Summary:

The Director of Capital Raising & IR will spearhead our strategic efforts to significantly scale our real estate investment portfolio, aiming to achieve the milestone of 10,000 apartment units and growing our equity from $200 million to over $500 million in the next 36 months. This pivotal role involves leading our marketing and investment relations, with a keen focus on operationalizing and executing on our strategic growth plans and enhancing existing and new investor relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Execution:

Develop and implement comprehensive growth strategies to expand our investment portfolio, ensuring alignment with long-term objectives.

Identify new market segments and geographic targets for capital sourcing and investment activity.

Collaborate cross-functionally with acquisitions, asset management, and finance teams to ensure fundraising strategies are aligned with deal pipeline and timing.

Investor Relations:

Serve as the primary relationship manager for existing and prospective HNWI and UHNWI investors.

Maintain regular communication with investors through newsletters, personalized updates, performance reporting, and market commentary.

Organize and lead investor calls, in-person meetings, and portfolio walkthroughs to build confidence and deepen engagement.

Ensure investors are consistently informed on project timelines, capital calls, distributions, and strategic updates.

Proactively solicit feedback from investors and address inquiries or concerns with urgency and professionalism.

Manage a CRM/database to track investor communications, preferences, capital commitments, and potential referrals.

Capital Raising:

Develop and execute tailored capital-raising campaigns targeting HNW and UHNW individuals via direct outreach, referrals, family office networks, wealth advisors, and strategic partnerships.

Drive the full fundraising lifecycle, including pitch deck creation, presentation delivery, term negotiation, and closing.

Utilize data analytics and segmentation to identify key investor personas and develop custom strategies to convert interest into commitments.

Leverage personal networks and referral programs to expand investor base and increase capital commitments per investor.

Stay informed on market trends, competitor fundraising efforts, and regulatory changes to optimize investor targeting and positioning.

Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure all fundraising materials and communications meet relevant securities regulations.

Creative Business Development & Growth Initiatives:

Design and host exclusive investor experiences (e.g., property tours, intimate roundtables, lifestyle events) to foster relationship-building and reinforce brand value.

Explore and test innovative channels for investor outreach (e.g., podcasts, webinars, niche digital advertising, strategic ambassador programs).

Develop co-investment and programmatic capital strategies to increase wallet share from existing investors.

Partner with wealth managers, accountants, attorneys, and other gatekeepers to tap into warm HNW networks.

Monitor competitor fundraising trends and continuously innovate investor acquisition and retention approaches.

Marketing Leadership:

Oversee and refine marketing strategies to enhance our brand's visibility and appeal to high-net-worth individuals.

Focus on exclusive events, digital campaigns, and personalized investor communications.

Work closely with branding and digital content teams to craft compelling narratives around investment strategy, track record, and impact.

Align marketing efforts with capital raising timelines to ensure optimal investor engagement.

Team Leadership and Development:

Lead, motivate, and manage the marketing and strategy team.

Set clear team goals and metrics, provide regular feedback, and ensure the team is aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.

Mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.

Performance Metrics:

Monitor and report on the effectiveness of growth and capital raising strategies.

Track KPIs including investor conversion rates, capital raised, investor retention, event ROI, and CRM engagement.

Adjust plans as necessary to meet ambitious capital raising targets.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Commercial Real Estate Investment Sales or related field; Master’s degree preferred.

Proven experience in a similar leadership role within real estate investment, finance, or a related industry.

Strong understanding of real estate markets, financial modeling, and investment strategies.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working with high-net-worth individuals and senior stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams, measure and track quarterly objectives for the whole team, and drive business growth.
