At Upstart, we seek individuals who resonate with our mission of providing effortless credit based on true risk. If you are excited about making a significant impact, we would love to connect with you!

The Team

The Upstart Capital Markets team plays a pivotal role in securing funding for our AI lending marketplace. We work closely with institutional investors on diverse financing solutions like securitizations, whole loan sales, co-investment partnerships, and other structured transactions.

The Structured Products team specializes in Upstart's securitization and financing programs, having issued over $9 billion in asset-backed securities (ABS) since 2017. We act as the primary contact for major investment banks and lenders, ensuring alignment across our business.

As the Manager of Capital Markets - Structured Products, you will play a critical role in securing optimal funding sources and drive execution on our securitization and warehouse programs. Your strong background in structured finance and relationship-building will be essential as you navigate asset- and bond-level cash flow modeling, lead negotiations, and support structuring discussions.

Position Location: Local team members typically meet in person in the New York, NY or San Mateo, CA office once to three times weekly while working remotely the rest of the time.

Time Zone Requirements: This team operates in East/West Coast time zones.

Travel Requirements: Most of your work can be done remotely, but all team members are encouraged to collaborate in person regularly, typically once or twice per quarter for 2-4 days. You may also attend industry conferences 1-3 times a year for up to 4 days.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

Drive and execute the securitization issuance and asset-backed financing strategy.

Manage and enhance strategic partnerships with lenders, investors, and market participants.

Collaborate with internal and external counsel to review legal agreements.

Work with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., legal, operations, data analytics, and accounting) to manage funding structure implications.

Present deal terms and progress to Upstart's leadership team.

Mentor and coach junior team members.

What We’re Looking For:

Minimum Requirements:

7+ years of experience in Capital Markets, Structured Finance/Products, investment banking, or related areas.

In-depth knowledge of capital markets and fixed income, with expertise in structured finance transactions.

Proven ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders and influence outcomes.

Strong instincts regarding market dynamics and risk assessment, with trust from institutional clients.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in capital markets at a fintech company.

Solid understanding of the unsecured personal loan asset class.

MBA, CFA, or a degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field.

Proficiency in analyzing complex data sets using Looker or similar platforms; knowledge of SQL is a plus.

What You’ll Love:

Competitive Compensation (base salary + bonus & equity).

Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with contributions to Health Savings Accounts.

401(k) with 100% company match up to $4,500 and immediate vesting.

Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).

Life and disability insurance.

Generous holiday, vacation, and sick leave policies.

Supportive parental and family care leave programs.

Annual wellness and technology reimbursement programs.

Team-building social activities and employee resource groups.

Catered lunches and snacks when in the office.

At Upstart, your base salary is just one aspect of your total compensation package. The anticipated base salary for this position ranges from $158,000 to $220,000, depending on location, skills, experience, and education.
