We are seeking an experienced CPA Tax Accounting Manager to join our growing firm. This role is ideal for a high-skilled professional with 10+ years of tax experience, including preparation and advisory work, proven leadership abilities, and proficiency with multiple tax software platforms. The Tax Manager will lead tax engagements, supervise a staff of 10 employees with room to grow, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and review a variety of returns (e.g., Individual, Partnership, EGT, Tax-Exempt, and Corporate)

Provide tax planning and advisory services to small businesses and individuals.

Supervise and train tax and accounting/bookkeeping staff.

Review and correct staff-prepared tax returns for accuracy and compliance.

Maintain strong client relationships through clear, proactive communication.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.

Coordinate daily activities and tasks across multiple projects to ensure timely completion.

Use practice management software to maintain up-to-date task lists and schedules.

Thrives in situations with limited initial information, using critical thinking and research skills to fill gaps.

Takes ownership of projects from conception to completion, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Qualifications

CPA license required

10+ years of progressive tax experience in tax and public accounting

Strong knowledge of tax compliance, planning, and GAAP principles

Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and supervise staff

Proven success in managing client relationships and resolving complex tax mattersTechnical Skills

Tax Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Federal, multi-state, and local tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and estates/trusts. Highly proficient in tax planning and strategy, including multi-state taxation, pass-through entities, and small business tax considerations. Experience with IRS and state tax controversy matters, including notices, audits, and appeals. Familiarity with tax research tools and the ability to interpret and apply new tax legislation to client situations. Ability to identify tax savings and opportunities and communicate implications clearly to clients and staff.

Tax Return Preparation & Review: Individual, Partnership, Estate, Corporate, and Tax-Exempt

Software Proficiency: CCH Axcess (or related), QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Canopy (or related), and Microsoft Office Products

Accounting Knowledge: Accrual accounting, GAAP Principles, and small business advisory.

Staff Training: Skilled in developing staff expertise in tax preparation, tax resolution, and client service.

Quality Assurance: Experienced in reviewing and correcting tax returns for accuracy and compliance.Please note that technical knowledge will be verified through practical assessments, including return walkthroughs, technical questions, and scenario-based discussions during the interview process.
