Chainbridge Solutions is seeking an experienced Industrial Hygienist to support our Department of Energy client at the Germantown, MD facility. This role is onsite 5 days a week with no opportunity for hybrid work.

Key Responsibilities

Anticipating, recognizing, evaluating and controlling occupational and environmental safety and health hazards in the workplace including hazards dealing with physical and chemical stresses.

Responding to accident investigations, spills, flooding, and other building emergencies, review of existing documents, writing safety and health guides and standard operating procedures, and conducting preliminary safety and health investigations in response to claims.

Indoor Air Quality: preliminary assessments and review third-party reports as necessary

FEOSH building surveys: inspections for electrical, fire, and other general safety hazards in all offices, hallways, mechanical rooms, and occupied spaces in the building)

Water Management Program: Support sampling, reporting, and field inspections per GSA PBS 1000.7A

Asbestos: respond to employee concerns and renovation requests to determine presence and assess condition of asbestos containing building materials (generally carpet pulls)

Project Management: Review contractor safety plans, 10 CFR 851 documentation, training certificates, and perform site inspections for construction and renovation projects on center

Work Control Permits: Review AHA/JHAs for small/short term projects on site

Confined Spaces: Oversee confined space program, including review and issuance of confined space permits and management of confined space inventory

Assist with site pest control program

Assist with sanitation inspections of cafeteria areas

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

5+ years of related industrial hygiene experience in a similar role.

Spend 35% of the average workday walking in the building and visiting areas of construction on client property.

Spend approximately 10% of the time standing and observing construction sites.

Spend the remainder of time in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time looking at a computer screen.

Continuous verbal and written communication with others to exchange information.

Continuous repetitive movements that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Must continuously be able to understand direction and adhere to established procedures; gather and classify information; use logic to analyze and interpret information and prioritize.
