POSITION SUMMARY
Clerk Helpers help to put purchased groceries into bags for customers and sometimes carrying those bags out to customers' cars. Clerk Helpershave to be quick and careful, making sure to pack bags to maximize space without overloading or smashing the customers items. Clerk Helpers spend the day on their feet and must be courteous and friendly to customers. Clerk Helpers take care of empty carts and help with cleanup duties when needed.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer-Service: Clerk Helpers talk directly with customers. Being friendly and approachable while bagging groceries and helping people out to their car is necessary.
Attention to Detail: Clerk Helpers must be able to quickly decide which items will fit in the bag without damaging the food or ripping the bag.
Greet customers and ask them if they would like assistance.
Provide customers with their required information regarding products.
Lead or direct customers to their choice of product.
Provide customers with product information such as date of expiry and price.
Make sure that sufficient items are displayed on shelves and that any out of stock ones are requisitioned on time.
Ensure that bags are readily available at cash counters.
May do clean up duties in the isles, bathrooms, and other departments when needed.
Pack customers' purchases in their chosen bag types and make sure that there are no spills.
Ensure that items are packed according to their weight and type.
Offer to assist customers in taking bagged items to their cars.
Ensure that packed bags are not too heavy or in danger of tearing.
Assist customers in loading bags into their cars.
Park empty carts in a proper manner.
Duties may include stocking shelves during slower periods.
Monitor bagged supplies to ensure that the ones that have been bought are replenished on time.
Ensure that any empty carts in parking areas are gathered and put in their designated places.
Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
