Job Description

Job Title: Interventional Radiology Tech/Special Procedure Tech

Profession: IR Tech/Special Procedure Tech

Specialty: Interventional Radiology

Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Monday to Friday

Hours per Shift: 9 hours

Experience: Prefer 2 years of either IR or Cath Lab experience

License: BLS, ARRT

Certifications: AHA BLS

Must-Have:

- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.

- Experience in assisting physicians with arteriograms and other specialized radiologic procedures under sterile technique in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

- Ability to prepare examination areas, position patients for procedures, and operate complex radiology equipment in accordance with established techniques and routines.

Description:

General job duties include preparing the exam area and maintaining sterile technique.

Assist the physician with various procedures including passing supplies and filming the case.

Transport patients as needed.

Conduct vascular procedures, neurovascular procedures, biopsies, drainage, and line placements.

Utilize equipment such as fluoroscopy and ultrasound.

Charting is done using EPIC.

Demonstrate effective communication and teamwork with other healthcare professionals.

Participate in call requirements during the work week, weekends, and holidays.

Expected to work independently with an RN present in the unit.

A three to five-day orientation program will be provided with training on equipment and charting systems.

Candidates must understand the requirements of a drug-free environment and pass a negative drug screen prior to employment.

IEMA certification is preferred.

Provide patient care in a manner that is respectful and accommodating to individual patient needs.
