Job Title: Outside Sales Representative

Department overview

Plate Above Catering is the exclusive caterer for Second Harvest Food Bank. We cater on- and offsite events for various needs, individuals, businesses, and organizations. These include conferences, parties, socials, life events, etc. Our marketing, sales, front and back of house staff in our Plate Above department work hand-in-hand for all events to ensure the best product and services are received by our guests during events. All proceeds from catering go back to support Second Harvest's 16-week culinary training program, which brings students in at no cost to them and teach them culinary skills that help them secure jobs and long-term stability.

Job Summary

The Outside Sales Representative will be responsible for identifying leads, establishing relationships, and closing catering sales for corporate events, social gatherings, weddings, nonprofit organizations, and more.

Work hours

Typical work hours would be Monday - Friday business hours, with some nights and weekends occasionally required.

Core Responsibilities

Identify and pursue new sales opportunities through cold calls, drop-ins, networking, referrals, and community events

Build and maintain relationships with corporate clients, event planners, venues, and local organizations

Conduct client meetings, tastings, and venue walk-throughs as needed

Create and deliver proposals that align with client budgets and event goals

Maintain CRM or sales tracking system with up-to-date client interactions and pipeline status

Collaborate with kitchen and operations team to ensure seamless handoff and event execution

Represent the brand at trade shows, networking events, and business expos

Meet monthly sales targets and report on progress weekly

Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements/Environment

Travel requirements

Selected candidate must live within the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida service area (Orange, Osceola, Marion, Lake, Brevard, Volusia and Seminole counties.)

Plate Above Catering's service area is approximately 30-45 minute radius from Second Harvest Food Bank's Mercy Drive location. Selected candidate will occasionally be required to drive to and from offsite events, deliveries, or networking events using company van or personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement.

Requirements

Qualifications

Proven experience in sales, preferably in catering, hospitality, or event services

Strong knowledge of the Orlando market and local event industry

Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the Orlando area

Comfortable with light administrative work (CRM updates, proposal writing, follow-up emails)

Passion for food, events, and delivering exceptional customer experiences

Clean driving record with the ability to travel within service area

In-depth knowledge of industry standards, regulations and compliance requirements

Awareness of emerging trends, advancements, and innovations in the field

Knowledge of program evaluation and process improvement techniques

Understanding of organizational goals and how the work supports them

Understanding of change management and cross-functional collaboration principles

Proficiency in tools, systems, or software related to the role (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel)

Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain information to various audiences and stakeholders

Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and evaluation

Understanding of how to collect, analyze, and interpret relevant data

Ability to break down problems to find actionable solutions

Ability to manage multiple tasks and/or projects in a timely and efficient manner

Ability to effectively collaborate with various teams and stakeholders

Ability to take ownership of tasks and drive results with minimal supervision

Preferred but not required qualifications

Familiarity with catering software or CRM systems

Existing network of contacts in Orlando's corporate or event planning community
