Desired Work Experience and Skill Set
Experience:
Minimum ten (10) years' experience in managing or leading process activities at the plant or corporate level
Ability to effect change in the process operation
Ability to use a large amount of data for troubleshooting issues
Ability to summarize process data for technical analysis
Roll model in performing tasks and providing designs that are forward thinking on operator safety
Roll model on engineering quality procedures and capable of performing FAT/Quality field audits
Capital cost estimating (Engineering, Equipment and Construction)
Process Design and Implementation:
High level of understanding about cement milling and pyro process.
Sound knowledge of combustion process and fuels properties (both traditional and AFR).
Understand clinker quality (reactivity, setting time, free lime, grindability, particle seize distribution, variability)
Sound knowledge of clinker chemistry and microscopy.
Understand cement and concrete quality (Strength, setting time, particle seize distribution, variability, blends with SCMs)
Rock handling, crushing and storage
Equipment specification for technical procurement
Process simulation and mass balancing
Ability to lead a plant in process audits and perform an analysis from the results
Ability to lead and perform process inspection and report generation of findings
Experience managing fuel and raw material trials. (From sourcing to completion of the trials)
Experience sourcing and implementing Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials (AFR)
Knowledge of typical cement plant emission limits
Sound knowledge of de-dusting systems, design, configuration and operation
Bonus General knowledge:
Virgin fiber processing and pulping
Paper machine process
Yankee drum, water chests, doctors, reel, & winders
Parent roll storage and converting
High pressure steam, strong acids/caustics
Gypsum rock handling, drying and calcination
Wallboard mixing and additives
Wallboard drying and takeoff
Control Systems and Architecture:
Understanding of dust emissions effects, limits, sources and controls.
Knowledge of typical cement plant control strategy from PID to SPC with experience with advanced controllers, loop tuning and expert systems.
Effectively analyze data, and correct deviations, including statistical process control.
Plant commissioning & troubleshooting:
Experience in troubleshooting cement process issues with successful correction
Experience in performing root cause analysis
Successfully commissioning a project to improve efficiency of a cement operation
Communication:
Mentoring less experienced engineers
Ability to work in multi-functional groups
Ability to handle multiple issues in different areas at once
Ability to support other engineering or project groups
Demonstrated communication skills (Status reporting, meeting facilitating, action lists, etc.)

Education
Accredited Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering - preference to be in one of the following fields
