Position Summary:

Under the direction complies, tabulates, and posts accounting and related clerical or statistical data of an advanced or difficult nature. Duties may include the maintenance of specialized accounting system of an on-line terminal. High emphasis on the ability to deal with the public on the phone or in person. Specialized duties also include a specific function or area of assignment and comply with the Northumberland County Office of Tax Claims Policies and Administrative Regulations.

Requirements

• Prepares financial and statistical reports and statements.

• Prepares and maintains logs, records and statistical data in the area of assignment.

• Interprets and applies appropriate rules and regulations.

• Monitors legal documents for compliance with State and local law.

• Answers regarding tax claim rules and regulations.

• Reconciles bank statements.

• Operate a computer terminal or personal computer in the performance of assigned duties.

• Process delinquent tax returns.

• Balance and enter returns in RBA software.

• Print yearly docket/proof.

• Mail return and claim notices.

• Verify addresses not found.

• Prepare tax certifications and apply delinquent tax payments.

• Prepare daily deposits.

Job Requirements/Skills & Abilities:

• Thorough knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices.

• Knowledge of accounting principles and methods.

• Knowledge of tax claims management principles.

• Ability to apply and adapt established methods of financial transactions.

• Ability to operate on-line terminals or other types of complex office machinery.

• Knowledge to generate riders for accounts payable.

Minimum Training & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

• 3 years of bookkeeping experience or an equivalent combination of related training and experience.

• Valid Pennsylvania driver's license with a favorable driving record.
