Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Summary:The position of the Sanitation Lead is required to follow, enforce and monitor process controls, operating procedures, and requirements set up by the FDA and upper management for the sanitation of facility, machines and equipment. Responsible for backing up the Sanitation Supervisor for communicating activities and recommendations on cleaning schedule between production and sanitation department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures each member of the Sanitation crew adheres to company Lock Out Tag Out and food safety procedures.
Ensures each member of the Sanitation crew has been trained on how to safely handle and distinguish between authorized sanitation chemicals.
Ensures each member of the Sanitation crew adheres to all company GMPs and follows company directives on regulatory, product quality, sanitation, food safety, employee and environmental standards.
Directs and distributes daily work load amongst sanitation technicians.
Effectively communicates with Production, Warehouse, Maintenance and Quality, focusing on conducting effective and timely sanitation of specific areas within the food processing environment and pieces of equipment.
Routinely conduct sanitation effectiveness audits and takes immediate, corrective action if required.
Works with Sanitation Supervisor and Quality to develop and implement new procedures, techniques, and testing plans for monitoring effectiveness of sanitation.
Assists in departmental training related to SOPs, GMPs, and procedural adherence and documentation.
Maintenance and upkeep of analytical equipment and/or chemical proportioning equipment to include documentation and preventative maintenance.
Monitors performance of sanitation crew to assure cleaning of food equipment and food processing environment is conducted per SOP requirements.
Performs Routine Sanitation work including but not limited to area assessment, organization, cleaning, sanitizing and auditing
Under direction of Sanitation Supervisor, generates work orders, tool checklists, chemical control, assists with the documentation maintenance of the Master Sanitation Schedule and other operations related GMPs
Monitors supply stock for sanitation crew and communicates equipment needs for ordering
Maintains a forklift operators permit
Assemble and disassemble assigned equipment in a safe manner
Clean both warehouse equipment and the entire warehouse area
Safely apply industrial foam cleaners and sanitizers
Communicate issues and concerns to Sanitation Supervisor
Performs all other duties as assigned
Ability to interact in a professional manner at all positions and levels including but not limited to contacts in plant management, production personnel, customer service representatives, procurement and sales
Ability to complete assigned jobs in a timely manner
Able to read, write and speak English fluently
Ability to make ethical decisions
Ability to be assertive and proactive in performing tasks and administrating responsibilities
Ability to create and maintain meticulous records
Ability to work with discretion and diplomacy when handling sensitive matters
All other duties as manager sees fit
Education & Qualifications:
3 years in a food manufacturing environment, preferred with sanitation experience
