POSITION: Human Resources Coordinator

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Region 14 Public Schools provides educational services to more than 1,500 students in the towns of Woodbury and Bethlehem. The district employs nearly 450 staff members, including certified teachers and non-certified staff, with the majority covered under Collective Bargaining Agreements.

The Human Resources Coordinator will join a small, collaborative team and directly support the Director of Finance and Operations across all functions related to the employment of staff. Responsibilities include recruitment, onboarding, supervision, reporting and compliance, leaves administration, and separation. This position requires a personable, detail-oriented professional who can multitask, maintain confidentiality, and adapt to evolving systems and needs.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists the Director of Teaching and Learning with engaging in recruitment opportunities at local colleges and universities and posting employment opportunities across multiple platforms.

Gathers information from administrators for job postings and posts vacancies to appropriate venues (CTREAP, Indeed, EdCT, etc.).

Coordinates interview logistics and provides assistance during candidate interviews to ensure a professional and welcoming process.

Coordinates onboarding for new employees by welcoming new hires, preparing and reviewing hiring paperwork, implementing background checks and fingerprinting, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal document requirements, monitoring certification and licensing requirements, and completing employee data management with a high degree of accuracy.

Maintains faculty certification records, tenure eligibility, and degree status changes and ensures compliance with certification requirements for each role.

Manages all staff training compliance requirements through GCN, DCF, and other State-mandated programs; monitors completion rates and assists staff in accessing training systems.

Prepares annual salary agreements for all staff across the District, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

Prepares and files all compliance reports required by the Connecticut State Department of Education and the EEOC for certified and non-certified staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Assists the Payroll Coordinator with oversight of personal and medical leaves of absence across the District. Duties include determining eligibility, engaging in confidential discussions with employees and health care providers, explaining contract and FMLA terms, posting short-term vacancies, coordinating with Central Office staff, and supporting employees' return-to-work process.

Assists in preparing responses in administrative proceedings (Unemployment Compensation, CHRO, EEOC), investigations (OCR, DCF), and pending litigation, as experience permits. QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree: college coursework in human resources, business, or related field preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Human Resources department, with familiarity with Connecticut State Department of Education data reporting structures, strongly preferred.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced office environment, particularly during peak hiring seasons.

Excellent interpersonal skills, with a service-oriented and personable approach to working with staff at all levels.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive issues discreetly.

Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.

Commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and problem-solving.

Ability to learn new software systems and adapt to changing processes with flexibility.

Proficiency with employee data systems; experience with Tyler Technologies/Infinite Visions and Frontline products strongly preferred.

Demonstrated aptitude for using technology with accuracy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace.

Basic working knowledge of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provisions and requirements. SALARY: $65,000 - 70,000
