Position Title: Maintenance

Reports To: Operations Coordinator

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Revision Date: August 22, 2025

SUMMARY: Performs routine maintenance or cleaning of the buildings and/or grounds. Maintenance personnel will be assigned to the maintenance staff by the Operations Coordinator. NOTE: May be interchanged with custodian position as determined by Operations Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrates sound judgment and emotional stability.

• Maintains a positive attitude and works well with others.

• Ensures the safety of students.

• Interacts with staff, students, and the community in a positive and respectful manner.

• Maintenance of buildings (painting, plastering, carpentry work, plumbing, and electrical service).

• Repairs building equipment.

• Works with Groundskeepers with ice and snow removal.

• Transports various school-related equipment and materials.

• Delivers food/furniture/supplies/intra-district and board mail within District.

• Pickups/cleans/delivers laundry supplies for all schools.

• Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase.

• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

• None.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• One to three years of related job experience preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Valid Ohio driver's license with good driving record.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

• Basic mathematical skills.

REASONING ABILITY:

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.

The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head, and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climb onto ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.

The employee must frequently/occasionally lift and/or move heavy items. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust/focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and will occasionally work outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers and sprays. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance use in the workplace throughout his/her employment with the District. This prohibition includes being under the influence of improper substances and manifesting signs of recent use of improper substances.
