Description

Hampden-Sydney College is accepting applications for an Auxiliary Systems Technician. Reporting to the Windows System Administrator/Network Analyst, the Auxiliary Systems Technician supports the mission of the College by maintaining and optimizing College's hardware and software infrastructure, and administering a variety of customer facing systems, to ensure that the College's technological environment remains effective, secure, and up to date to meet the needs of our students and employees. Position available August 1, 2025.

Duties:

Work with vendors to maintain VOIP system and maintain E911 database

Assist maintenance and troubleshooting of AV equipment.

Assist in basic troubleshooting of network connectivity issues, including cable runs and physical layer issues.

Maintain accurate records of equipment, inventory, maintenance activity, and service requests.

Provide occasional support for bookstore point-of-sale systems, including hardware and cabling.

Assist with the setup and support of Tiger Dollar and ID card systems.

Respond to service requests in a timely and efficient manner.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Experience troubleshooting in a technical environment.

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions:

This position requires working some nights and weekends to support events and provide after-hours support.

The role involves physical activity, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.

Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, with 3 years of hands-on troubleshooting experience in an IT environment, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, are required.
