Summary Description:
Yellowstone Forever (YF) is the official nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park. Our mission is to protect, preserve, and enhance Yellowstone National Park through education and philanthropy. YF connects people to Yellowstone through outstanding visitor experiences and educational programs and translates those experiences into lifelong support of the park and philanthropic investment in its future. Our educational programming and products help people enhance their understanding and appreciation of the wildlife, natural wonders, and cultural history of the park. YF's operations include Park Stores in and around Yellowstone; the Yellowstone Forever Institute, which offers in-depth educational programing for people of all ages; and a supporter program which raises funds for priority park projects.
The Payroll Assistant plays a critical role in Yellowstone Forever's operations, working to process employees' paychecks by collecting their payroll data and timesheets. Their duties include verifying employees' work hours and payment through the payroll system, issuing deductions, earnings and other statements to employees and updating payroll records regularly.
Primary Responsibilities:
Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees
Administrator for the payroll system, working with the vendor and providing organizational reports
Manage Workers Compensation requirements (reporting, coding, audit, etc.)
Knowledge of Payroll compliance related to current laws and regulations regarding payroll deductions, withholding and taxes across different states
Provide department managers and supervisors with guidance on compliance with payroll laws and regulations (housing benefits, parking, gift cards, states/countries, etc.)
Benefits enrollment and administration
Employee setup and administration in payroll and HRIS system
Ensure employment files are maintained accurately and confidentially
Assist with on-boarding and orientation processes
Maintain a thorough understanding of Yellowstone Forever's employment policies to provide answers and guidance to employees of all levels
401k program management (entry, reporting, audit, etc.)
Record monthly benefits, allocate to each department
Calculate additional Montana UI (quarterly)
Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive personnel information
Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Proven ability to quickly learn and apply new systems, processes, and applications
Self-motivated with a sound approach to problem solving and timely task completion
Ability to sometimes work a flexible schedule
Ability to lift boxes/equipment weighing up to 40 pounds (with support of lift equipment)
Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for the privacy of sensitive employee information
Ability to represent YF in a courteous and professional manner
This position involves driving YF vehicles, therefore applicants must hold and maintain a valid US driver's license, and maintain a favorable driving record for insurance purposes
A satisfactory criminal background check are conditions of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a non-profit environment
Knowledge of Yellowstone National Park
Compensation:
This is a full-time, non-exempt, hybrid location position. Travel between the offices and throughout the park may be required. Hourly rate is based upon experience.
