Experience, Knowledge and Skill 1.
Previous Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years hospital or facility maintenance experience in mechanical maintenance and repair, experience should include specialized hands-on experience in HVAC, plumbing, steam systems, medical gases and other mechanical systems.

Specialized or Technical Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent, completion of mechanical apprentice program and/or equivalent on the job technical training in Hospital maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, medical gases or other mechanical systems.
Required certification as a Life Safety Specialist (CLSS-HC). If a candidate does not have the certification they must obtain them within 12 months of employment.

Manual or Physical Skill Required: Requires considerable hand-eye coordination and extremely accurate touch in adjusting and repairing equipment and other devices.
Must be able to properly operate electronic and mechanical devices.
For insurance purposes, must be 19 years of age or older to drive North Oaks Health System's vehicles.

Physical Effort Required: Frequent walking and climbing of stairs and ladders, intermittent stooping, bending and crawling while making repairs to equipment, steady muscular exertion, demanding considerable strength, able to lift 100 lbs.

Complexity and Difficulty of Work: In order to handle the variety of task required, the variety and complexity of equipment which must be serviced and the variety of circumstance which one faces, the incumbent of this position must be mentally quick enough to accurately assess problems and determine solutions which often require the unique and ingenious.

Maintaining errors may cause needless delays, may cause avoidable replacement of costly equipment and in certain circumstance may threaten bodily harm or even death.

Hazards: Handling dangerous chemicals, threatening acid burns and also includes possibility of falling while climbing ladders to reach equipment, electrical shock, and oxygen combustion and exposure to excessive heat and hazards present with mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities: 1.
Responsibility for the safety of yourself and others: Incumbent is responsible for maintaining orderly and safe use of personal and company equipment.
Also, incumbent is the use of proper PPE in performance of all work performed.

Responsibility for Company Funds or Property Incumbent is responsible for properly using and maintaining company equipment, also responsible for purchasing necessary parts to repair all equipment.

Responsibility for Performance of Work without immediate supervisor: Much of the work required in this position is done without direct or immediate supervision.
The ability to work independently is essential.

Responsibility for the Supervision of Others: No direct supervision is required however the incumbent is often called upon to provide advice and expertise related to others job performance.
Responsibilities: DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: 1.
Work shift as directed.
2.
Maintain logs and records for shift operation.
3.
Reporting any deviations from standards to supervisor.
4.
Assist the Plant Operations Director with Life Safety regulatory compliance oversight to ensure conformity with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Centers for Medicare\Medicaid (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC) along with all other codes and standards impacting healthcare facilities.
Ensure required testing is performed, with supporting documentation maintained for all North oaks Health Care facilities.
5.
Operates boilers, air conditioning equipment and other allied equipment in plant and main hospital building in accordance with safety regulations and hospital operating procedures.
6.
Shall perform maintenance and repairs to equipment, furnishings, fixtures and systems in plant and main hospital and all out buildings in accordance with steps enumerated in planned work order or as directed by Supervisor.
7.
Shall lubricate equipment and machinery as required by P.M.
program.
8.
Responsible for housekeeping of the plant building including repairs to pipe covering and maintenance, painting of equipment, machinery and piping, etc.
9.
Shall assist in training new employees in the function and operation of the various systems in the plant and hospital.
10.
Shall participate in educational and training programs, keep self-informed of new rules, regulations and changes in methods and techniques and make recommendations for improvements and efficiency of operations of equipment.
11.
Perform additional duties as required, when necessary, and as directed, including general Preventative Maintenance and assistance to skilled tradesmen and engineering specialists.
12.
Maintain and help clean the shop area and tools.
13.
Follows North Oaks Health System's Compliance Programs and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.
14.
Maintain certification in the field of license.
15.
Drives North Oaks Health System's vehicles, so therefore must be at least 19 years of age and maintain a current State Driver's License while maintaining a good driving record
