High School Diploma or GED preferred
Three years of experience as a diesel mechanic; experience with diesel engine and transmission repair/rebuild.
Valid Georgia Driver's License and safe driving record; must be able to obtain a valid Georgia Class B Commercial Driver's License with an S and P Endorsement (must be at least 21 years of age to obtain license) within 60 days/2 months
Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities; ability to lift a maximum of 75 pounds
Written and oral communication; mechanical; computer literate
REPORTS TO: Transportation Director
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance.
Inspect, evaluate, maintain, and repair district's fleet vehicles.
Diagnose vehicle problems and evaluate components and failures.
Disassemble and rebuild components as required in the repair process.
Utilize a wide variety of test equipment, standard tools, specialty tools, and reference manuals.
Conduct visual inspections of vehicles to determine source of mechanical problems.
Complete paperwork for preventive maintenance records, inspection reports, repair orders, and labor sheets.
Perform emergency road service and repairs on-site tows defective equipment to maintenance facility for repair.
Maintain a clean and safe working area.
Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 240 day position. Salary based on board approved salary.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Transportation Director or designee.
