Shift/Hours: Monday–Friday, 11:00 PM–7:00 AM, with rotational Saturdays
Job Summary:
As a Specimen Processing Pre-Analytical Assistant, you’ll support the Technical Operations Department by ensuring the proper handling, organization, and delivery of clinical specimens. This entry-level role is crucial for maintaining the integrity of specimen processing, helping to ensure timely and accurate test results while upholding safety and compliance standards in a high-throughput laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Sort, rack, deliver, store, and aliquot clinical specimens.
Support additional functions such as centrifugation and archive-mode sorter operation.
Identify and resolve issues related to specimen types, missing information, or delivery.
Assist with RFP development, compliance tracking, and documentation.
Complete all required documentation clearly and on time.
Support weekend, holiday, overtime, and on-call shifts as needed.
Actively contribute to a team-oriented, continuous improvement workplace.
Learn and apply compliance policies related to test ordering and specimen handling.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in work areas per 5S standards.
Required Experience:
High School Diploma or GED
Basic data entry and organizational skills
Previous experience in a production environment preferred
Familiarity with clinical lab terminology a plus
Nice-to-Have Experience:
Medical or clinical background
Comfort working in a biohazard environment
Experience using mainframe computer systems
Required Skills:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and maneuver carts/racks
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to perform tasks confidently and on time
Team-oriented mindset with excellent interpersonal communication
Preferred Skills:
Willingness to support flexible staffing needs (weekends, holidays, overtime)
Understanding of clinical specimen types and testing requirements
Knowledge of compliance in test ordering
Additional Skills:
Ability to create test plans and execute workflows
