Title: Coordinator of Student Leadership Programming Unit: Full-Time MCCC Professional Staff, Grade 05 Coordinator of Student Activities Classification Department: Office of Student Engagement Reports to: Director of Student Engagement Date: September 11, 2025 General Summary: The Coordinator of Student Leadership & Engagement supports student success and leadership development through inclusive programming, mentorship, and community engagement.
This role combines responsibilities from the Leadership in Action program and broader student engagement initiatives, with a focus on serving diverse student populations including Latinx, Black/African American, International, and other underserved groups.
Essential Job Functions: * Coordinate logistics for the Paul Sullivan Leadership Institute, including seminars, service trips, mentor dinners, and end-of-year celebrations.
* Design and implement a comprehensive recruitment and application process for student leadership programs, including outreach across campus departments, targeted engagement of underrepresented student populations, and promotion of opportunities such as the Paul Sullivan Leadership Institute and Presidential Ambassadors.
* Develop application materials, coordinate selection timelines, and collaborate with faculty and staff to identify and encourage potential student leaders.
* Ensure all students are assigned a community mentor related to their career goals or related leadership objectives by recruiting community partners, collecting student commitment contracts, and organizing related logistical needs.
* Maintain a calendar of community events and track student participation.
* Act as a liaison with the President's Office and other related departments regarding student involvement in college and community functions.
* Develop and assess campus programming that supports student retention and success.
* Facilitate leadership development opportunities and student engagement initiatives.
* Promote student advocacy and identity-affirming practices across campus.
* Collaborate with departments such as Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid, and TRiO to support student involvement.
* Mentor students to support personal growth, academic success, and college involvement.
* Encourage participation in programs such as the TRiO, Success Scholars, PAASA, and Presidential Ambassadors.
* Coordinate purchasing, catering, and payroll for events and guest speakers.
* Attend professional development workshops and conferences.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, human services, or related field * six (6) years experience and/or training that includes student activity planning/coordination, multicultural programming or retention initiatives, leadership development, and interpersonal relations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
* Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and student engagement platforms (e.g., Collegiatelink). * Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain confidentiality.
Preferred: * Master's degree in higher education, counseling, or related field.
* Bilingual skills.
* Experience with TRiO or similar student support programs.
* Background in project management and event planning.
* Passion for equity-minded work and multicultural engagement.
Additional Information: Salary Range: $69,821 is the starting salary for an individual with a Bachelor's Degree; actual salary commensurate with academic background and experience.
