Product Development Engineer
Job Description
This is a salaried position. The Product Development Engineer is responsible for researching, developing, modifying and maintaining porcelain enamel products. They will work closely with the Lab Manager and other engineers to set up and follow through with development work as well as completing lab requests from the field. They will be responsible for generating material data, recommending quality standards for new products, and generating work instructions.

Position Responsibilities
Identify opportunities for improvement in existing products, process and control systems.
Assist Lab Manager in developing qualification testing for new or modified products
Work closely with Lab Technicians to ensure accurate and precise testing
Travel to customer locations for trials, training and audits. Travel is typically <10% but may be up to 25%.
Generating reports for customers on defects and material performance
Maintain safe laboratory habits and work environment
Communication/Other Duties
Maintains excellent housekeeping
Follows all company and customer safety, health and environmental policies and procedures
Responds to change productively
Handles other duties as required
Follow appropriate quality procedures and work instructions
Assist in training employees on appropriate items
Attend training classes in-plant or other locations as assigned
Education and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering. Ceramic or materials engineering is preferred but knowledge of glass or metallurgy will be considered.
The successful candidate must display high-level problem-solving abilities and technical acumen
