CURRICULUM WRITER (SECONDARY SUBJECTS)

Position Purpose

Position is responsible for developing, writing, and revising secondary curriculum under the supervision of the Associate Superintendent. Produce curricular materials for subjects that align with Virginia Standards of Learning, including classroom lessons for students to professional learning material for school personnel.

Subjects Needed:

Health and PE (Include Driver's Education)

History

Responsibilites

Review and revise the current pacing guides.

Develop units utilizing a division template.

Embed instructional resources and S.T.E.M. activities into each unit plan.

Create formative and summative assessments for each unit.

Include strategies & Pedagogy.

List SOL objectives and vocabulary, including resource links.

Incorporate research based best practice for equity and accessibility to engage all students in relevant and personal learning experiences.

Qualifications

Current or past K-12 teaching experience

Thorough knowledge of Virginia Standards of Learning for the subject

Understanding of curriculum writing best practices and demonstrate success with integrated cross-curricular lesson planning and instruction

Self-motivated, creative, and detailed oriented individual

Terms of Employment

Short term, stipend work to take place from 04/15/2025-09/30/2025

Compensation: $1,000.00 per completed subject/course, paid after the final product (all associated units) is turned in.

This opening will reamin open until all subjects are complete.

Evaluation

The performance of this job will be evaluated periodically by the instruction department.
