The Raritan Bay Area YMCA is currently seeking passionate and motivational Gym Wellness Staff for the following shifts: 5am - 9am, 4pm - 9pm, and weekends 7am - 12pm.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic urban, growing organization, just 5 miles west of New York City in the waterfront city of Perth Amboy, NJ. The Raritan Bay Area YMCA has served the ever-evolving needs of our community since 1912. We enthusiastically serve over 6,000 members in the Raritan Bay area in our community building initiatives through Healthy Living, Youth Development, and Social Responsibility.
Under the supervision of the Senior Program Director, the Gym Wellness Staff plays a vital role in fostering a positive, supportive fitness environment for our members. This position also involves building meaningful relationships with members, helping create a welcoming atmosphere, and ensuring that all individuals feel comfortable and empowered in their fitness journey.

Essential Responsibilities include:
Maintain a clean, safe gym environment and ensure proper use of equipment
Conduct fitness orientations and provide supportive guidance to members.
Engage professionally with members, promoting wellness programs and a positive community atmosphere.
Respond promptly to and report accidents, equipment issues, first aid concerns, and other significant matters to the Senior Program Director.

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in fitness, customer service, or a related field preferred.
CPR and First Aid certification (must be obtained within the first 6 months of employment).
Strong customer service skills and a passion for health and wellness.
Ability to engage with a diverse group of members and build positive relationships.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the gym for extended periods.
Ability to life and move gym equipment as needed.
