About Our Client
The family owned General Contractor I'm partnered with has been in business for 60+ years working on large projects in all verticals and partnering with some of the largest companies in the nation. They have excellent tenure within their pre-construction department and have a couple people retiring within the next couple years. They are looking for someone to come in as a Chief Estimator and eventually transition in a Director of Preconstruction role over the next 3-5 years.
Job Description
The Chief Estimator will be responsible for:
Estimating: Lead and oversee all company estimating activities across both private and public sector projects. Ensure that estimates account for scope gaps and areas where subcontractors may underprice
Preconstruction: Be fully immersed in the preconstruction process-from conceptual budgeting to construction methodologies
Identification: Read and interpret specifications and drawings; identify risk, liabilities, and cost exposures
Documentation: Develop detailed, competitive, and complete estimates that reflect true project cost
Team Collaboration: Collaborate with leadership (including operations and finance) to establish accurate job costing
Mentoring: Provide guidance to junior estimators and help reduce overly conservative pricing that may impact competitiveness
Leadership: Act as a strategic partner to the executive team in go/no-go decisions and bid strategy
