POSITION CANNOT BE FILLED UNTIL 10/1/2025 GENERAL SUMMARY Executes civil process, writs and warrants; courtroom security (Bailiff Duties), traffic enforcement, and other patrol functions as required or as assigned by the Constable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job.

Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

* Provides security for the court and the Justice of the Peace; calls parties to the courtroom; and handles evidence in court cases * Executes civil process, which includes disseminating court paperwork, requesting alternative service for civil papers, serving warrants, making arrests, and executing various writs.

* Conducts investigations and files cases concerning criminal violations; and enforces local and state laws, which includes daily patrolling, issuing citations and assisting on incident and accident scenes.

* Performs other related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

* Employees are required to comply with safety regulations, procedures, protocol, and wear personal protective gear if required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent, with no experience required.

Combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions listed above can be substituted.

Certifications and/or Licenses TCOLE Peace Officer License KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES * Knowledge of state guidelines for civil service * Ability to understand legal documents and due process * Knowledge of court procedures * Ability to use metal detector * Knowledge of traffic and civil laws * General knowledge of departmental policy concepts * Ability to detain and arrest * Ability to use computer systems and related software * Ability to handle, use and maintain weapons * Knowledge of basic wiring techniques * Ability to use specialized equipment * Proficient in use of various law enforcement related equipment * Prioritize work and meet deadlines * Work independently * Apply listening and interview skills, work under pressure, address conflict, solve problems, and make sound split-second judgments * Read, analyze, and interpret standards, policies, procedures, and regulations * Develop and write reports and correspondence * Exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job * Operate standard office equipment, such as computer keyboards and monitors, copiers, scanners, and telephone * Use (or learn to use) computer software and systems applicable to the position * Follow oral and written instructions and procedures * Collect, organize, and interpret data and prepare accurate records * Meet schedules and deadlines of the work unit * Maintain well-organized materials, files, systems and tools * Adapt to changes in work situations and priorities * Reason/analyze; use logic to identify and resolve problems * Establish and maintain constructive and cooperative interpersonal relationships with staff, peers, supervisors, or managers in the work unit and other departments, as well as with staff of outside entities and other individuals, as applicable to the essential duties and responsibilities WORKING CONDITIONS The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
