Job Duties and Responsibilities
Required: ET&D or Civil Safety: 5-10 years
Key Duties:
Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks
Conduct safety inspections, observations, investigations and regulatory compliance for OSHA and DOT
Communicates, coaches and trains crews on the current HSE work practices and rules, policies and procedures.
Prepares reports for management team reviews on observations pertaining to work activities, investigations, employee injuries/property/utility damage incidents.
Enforce OSH (occ. safety & health) policies (e.g. accident reporting process)
Coordinate drug screening (Randoms (DOT & NON), post-accident, reasonable suspicion)
Direct accident investigation procedures
Keep detailed records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions
Keep Safety databases up to date with current information as clients require. ISnet, Veriforce, and Avatta to name a few.
Complete any safety pre-qualifications required by potential clients
Communicate daily with Gridtech senior personnel, superintendents on safety needs/requirements
Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
Liaise with and report to PGS Safety Director on OSH matters
Other duties as assigned.
Skills:
Proven experience as safety specialist in the power construction industry
In-depth knowledge of OSH guidelines and practices
Experience in reporting and developing policies
OSHA 30 Training
CUSP certification, or must be able to attain within 6 months of hire date
Experience in implementing OSH training programs
Proficient in MS Office
Excellent communication and advisory skills
Diligent with an analytical mind
BSc/Ba in business administration, Safety or relevant field
MVR qualifies individual to be an approved company driver
Pass pre-employment drug screen
Working Conditions
Office/Field 50% travel may be required
