Position Type: Substitute/Substitute Cafeteria Worker Date Posted: 9/10/2025 Location: Cornwall Consolidated School Date Available: When Filled Closing Date: When filled Additional Information: Show/Hide Cornwall Consolidated School Job Posting: Substitute Food Service Manager Cornwall Consolidated School is seeking a Substitute Food Service Manager to oversee the daily operations of the school meal program when the regular manager is unavailable.

This role includes transporting prepared meals from Housatonic Valley Regional High School (HVRHS), serving nutritious meals to students, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen, and ensuring compliance with health and USDA standards.

Responsibilities include: * Transporting meals from HVRHS to Cornwall Consolidated School.

* Preparing fruits and vegetables (e.g., chopping, slicing, portioning). * Serving breakfast and lunch to students.

* Maintaining accurate records, including food temperatures and daily production logs.

* Cleaning and sanitizing all food service equipment and surfaces.

* Communicating with the HVRHS lunch program regarding meal counts and supply needs.

* Ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.

Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent required.

* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

* Previous food service experience preferred; school cafeteria experience a plus.

* ServSafe Manager Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire). * Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

and stand for extended periods.

* Strong organizational and communication skills.

Additional Requirements: * Must complete all required state and federal background checks, including DCF, before employment.

* Must comply with district policies and state regulations regarding food service operations.

Schedule & Compensation: * On-call, part-time position based on school needs.

* Work hours align with the school day and meal service times.

* Mileage reimbursement is provided at the current IRS standard rate for job-related travel.
