The Office of the City Engineer (OCE) is currently seeking a Chief Engineering Technician to join its Central Records team.

This role is essential in guiding Engineering Technicians to efficiently fulfill requests and archive Capital Improvement Project (CIP) records in Unifier.

The selected candidate will provide training, develop process improvements, and implement strategies to increase the output of requested As-builts, rights-of-way (ROW), record drawing plans, storm-drain plans, quarter-section maps, and other CIP documentation.

This position will seek innovative methods, and work with a sense of urgency, to enhance the performance and capabilities of the Central Records team.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: * Communicating orally with other employees, plan holders, and the public by telephone and in a one-to-one, face-to-face setting.

* Reading and interpreting storm drain, right-of-way, quarter-section maps, engineering drawings, and specifications for construction control purposes.

* Working with Project Managers to develop scopes and input data into relevant systems.

* Researching records and files for accurate information regarding construction drawings and reviews.

* Ensuring conformance to public standards.

IDEAL CANDIDATE * Proficient using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Adobe.

* Excellent communication skills, strong customer service abilities, and effective teamwork capabilities.

* Strong decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, and perform well under pressure.

* Knowledge of engineering principles and practices related to the installation of dry utilities within the City's rights-of-way (ROW), public utility easements (PUE) and Capital Improvement Project (CIP) construction.

* Knowledge of City codes and policies regarding underground utility construction, with the ability to effectively communicate with Project Managers, City contractors, utility designers, and other contractors.

SALARY Pay Range: $26.83 to $45.89 per hour.

Hiring Range: $26.83 to $37.76 per hour.

Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The minimum qualifications listed above, plus: * Three years of experience in: * Reviewing, researching, reading, and interpreting civil engineering and electronic plans.

* One year of experience with/in: * Working with As-Builts, Computer Aided Design (CAD) drafting software or land base viewer application.

* Providing customer service while working in a team environment.

* Experience in/with: * Creating detailed reports using Excel, Microsoft office programs, and Adobe.

* Working with online right-of-way, storm drain, construction, and quarter-sections plans or maps.
