Purpose Performs a wide range of basic landscaping, maintenance and resources management activities in along the Olentangy Greenway Trail as part of the Olentangy Reemployment Plan.

The Olentangy Reemployment Plan is an 8 week program in partnership with the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department.

Example of Duties Performs a variety of landscaping, maintenance and resource management duties including, but not limited to mowing, invasive species removal, trail maintenance, fertilizing, trimming, mulching, etc.

Picks up litter and empties trash receptacles.

Performs basic trail maintenance including clearing paths, trimming, and pruning using pruners, shovels, rakes, hand saws, hand axes, etc.

Operates basic construction equipment including but not limited to power tools, line trimmers, mowers, chain saws, skid steers, etc.

Plant, fertilize, prune, water and transplant trees.

Assist in the basic construction and repair of decks, signs, tables, roadways, etc.

Paints and stains.

Qualifications Education/Experience Must be at least 18 years of age.

Due to the temporary nature of these roles, local applicants are preferred.

Must successfully complete a backround check.

Language Skills Ability to communicate effectively and courteously with coworkers and general public on a daily basis.

Team-Oriented Works on a team.

Good customer service, communications and interpersonal skills.

Attendance Being present at work is an essential function of the position.

Mathematical Skills Basic mathematics skills; ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals.

Reasoning Ability Ability to carry out instructions and deal with problems involving few variables within a familiar context.

Ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision.

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk and hear, operate grounds maintenance and heavy equipment, lift heavy objects, operate power and hand tools, drive off-road vehicles, etc.

The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms, etc.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Work Environment While performing the regular duties of the job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions.

The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Work Hours Schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, with some possible Saturday shifts during the 8 week program.

Any Additional Information Ability and willingness to cooperate with coworkers on group projects.

Ability to complete routine forms.
