The Big Picture

Tiburon Baptist Church ( is seeking a full-time Associate Pastor of Youth Ministry and Community Outreach. Tiburon Baptist Church was founded in 1959 in Tiburon, CA. We are situated in Marin County in the San Francisco Bay Area, minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge.

Requirements

Position Summary This position is ideal for one who enjoys working with youth and adults because you will serve both segments of the church. You will be responsible to organize and lead an effective ministry to middle and high school students that guides them to worship, spiritually grow, and to be engaged in service and mission. This position will also organize and oversee ministry to adults in fulfilling two aspects of the church's discipleship pathway. First is leading adult members to engage with the unchurched locally and globally. Second, is coordinating a process to shepherd adults into meaningful roles of service to build the church and to touch the local community.

Primary Responsibilities:

Youth Ministry (6-12 grades)

Develop and lead middle & high school ministries that disciple and evangelize students

Provide leadership and oversight to the volunteer youth leadership team

Support and partner with parents as they disciple teens at home

Organize annual calendar with attention to regular fellowship, discipleship, and outreach activities as well as annual camps and mission trips

Attention to administrative duties such as administering a budget, timely communication habits, and seeking to coordinate a unified ministry to families that supports the spiritual growth of students as they enter adulthood

50% of the time of this position is focused on youth ministry.

Adult Ministry: Lead Church Members to Engage the Unchurched

Lead emphases to reach out with the gospel to the locally unchurched in Marin County, CA by:

Initiating needed programs and practices to guide church adults to engage with the lost

Training on evangelism and encouraging members to connect others to Jesus

Seeking to build bridges into the surrounding community

Lead gospel outreach emphasis beyond Marin by:

Seeking opportunities for mission engagement nationally and globally

Educating church members on global mission engagement

Guiding church members to participate in global mission trips

Fostering connection between the church and missionaries serving on the field

25% of the time of this position will focus on engaging unchurched adults

Adult Ministry: Lead Church Members to Service

Help members understand their spiritual giftedness and how to engage those gifts in service in and through the church

Develop a process to guide members into meaningful places to service in the church

Develop relationships with organizations to help members engage in service outside the church

Other occasional duties as assigned by Lead Pastor

25% of the time of this position will focus on leading adult church members into service

Experience and Qualifications

Actively walking in a committed relationship with Christ

Significant youth ministry experience in a church setting, either paid or volunteer

Demonstrated experience in leading youth to personal faith in Christ

Demonstrated experience in leading youth to being discipled followers of Christ as their Lord

Experience in local evangelism and global missions desirable

Experience in developing and growing a ministry to adults is desirable

Seminary or Bible College degree preferred

History of solid church participation

Accountability

Works under the supervision of Lead Pastor

Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and church leadership and organizational meetings

Annual and periodic reviews with the Lead Pastor

Work Schedule and Compensation

Full time including Sundays

Compensation: up to $70,000 per year, dependent upon experience. Options for health insurance, retirement, housing allowance designation, and ancillary benefits.

Paid vacation is offered pursuant to the Staff Handbook.
