Avionics Technician (Opto-mechanical)

Description
As an Avionics Technician (Opto-mechanical) at Impulse, you'll be responsible for assembling, inspecting and reworking optical and opto-mechanical assemblies used in low-earth orbit and beyond. Your work will directly impact the reliability and mission success of our Mira and Helios spacecraft.
Responsibilities
• Perform opto-mechanical and electromechanical assembly work.
• Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and work instructions
• Use optical metrology tools to check quality of optical assemblies.
• Troubleshoot issues and rework optical assemblies.
• Work with manufacturing engineers to improve assembly rate and efficiency
• Collaborate with engineers and quality assurance on issue resolution, process improvements, and documentation updates.
• Record build data and ensure traceability of parts and workmanship per aerospace standards.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 4+ years of experience with opto-mechanical assembly, such as assembling and aligning lenses and mirrors.
• 4+ years of experience in a production environment, e.g. in aerospace, automotive, consumer electronics, etc.
• Attention to detail
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
Additional Information:
• 2+ years of experience operating centration machines and interferometers
• 2+ years of experience with adhesives in a production environment
• 5+ years of demonstrated experience working on opto-mechanical assemblies for space applications.
• Electromechanical assembly experience
• Cleanroom experience
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
