Postdoctoral Research Scientist Position
A postdoctoral research scientist position is available immediately in the automated science laboratory at Carnegie Mellon University. The primary area of interest for this posting is in the synthesis and characterization of polyurethane materials in a self-driving laboratory. The successful candidate will work primarily on understanding the structure-property relationships of polymeric materials with a focus on optimization of mechanical properties. The postdoc is to build and successfully execute the project within the lab's research program through collaboration with the PI and the group members.
Qualifications: At least a PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Polymer Science or a relevant field with relevant research experience in polymer synthesis and molecular characterization. Hands on experience with lab automation. Advanced skill level in solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches. Thorough understanding of chemical kinetics. Experience with chemical characterization using NMR, FTIR, and GPC. Strong publication record and effective communication skills.
