Job Responsibilities
This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center- Dorchester Center, 106 Springview Lane, Summerville, SC 29485.
The Office of Mental Health's mission is to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses. We provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
As the Mental Health Professional II - Team Lead you will be under general supervision of the Clinic Director, leads and attends to the daily operations of the Access/Mobile Crisis Team, the law enforcement embedded clinicians, and serves as the Center's Disaster Coordinator.
Responsibilities for the Mental Health Professional II - Team Lead include:
Oversee the daily operation of Access/Mobile Crisis team, intake clinicians, and Law Enforcement embedded clinicians. Ensures that enrollment, diversions, access to care, productivity, and quality of care metrics are met. Ensure that the team operates in an efficient and organized manner.
Orient and provide ongoing development and evaluation of staff.
Provide comprehensive and advanced level mental health assessments and crisis management for the purpose of initiating a Plan of Care for each patient. Ensure the staff provide quality person-centered care as demonstrated by the use of evidence-base clinical interventions.
Complete and submit clinical documentation and data that is clear, concise and focuses on client driven care.
Perform triage duties that relate to addressing the needs of patients and family members seeking services at CDMHC.
Coordinate Center Disaster Response as needed in local area.
Recruit for Disaster response team and ensure annual review of the Center's disaster plan.
Comply with all applicable SCOMH and CDMHC Quality Assurance, CARF, Corporate Compliance and Cultural Competence policies procedures and regulations and all Federal and State laws. Minimum and Additional Requirements
A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field and professional experience in a mental health, human service or social service program.
Additional Requirements
In order to be credentialed for core services as a Mental Health Professional at the SC Office of Mental Health, applicants must provide evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post-graduate clinical experience. Please be sure to provide specific clinical activities on your application and/or resume.
This position requires some admin on call after hours duties and may require working afterhours.
This position is considered essential and may require reporting for duty in the event of weather or similar emergency events.
A valid SC driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
A Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited program, university, or college in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family counseling or other behavioral discipline deemed equivalent by SCOMH and one (1) year of post graduate experience in a clinical counseling program.
Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. Additional Comments
Post hire, employee must:
Have working knowledge of Mental Health legal principles and practices, of methods, principles and practices of clinical counseling and educational services.
Have considerable knowledge of psychopathology and patient management in psychiatric setting.
Have working knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other agencies.
Be able to effectively plan, coordinate and manage complex treatment and to the ability to conduct detailed investigations, draw conclusions and recommend required actions.
