# Voice Up Audio Content & Voice Technology Internship

## Position Overview

**Position Title:** Audio Content & Voice Technology Innovation Intern

**Duration:** 8-16 weeks (flexible based on student availability)

**Commitment:** 8-12 hours per week

**Location:** Remote with global collaboration opportunities

## Mission Statement

Inspired by the groundbreaking success of Allison Wintermute's "Unlocking More" (addressing childhood mental health through nature-based solutions) and Anne Emily Matheny's "Miracle Has a Monster" series (helping children navigate anxiety, depression, and family challenges), this internship focuses on expanding Voice Up's impact through innovative audio content and voice technology applications.

## The Voice Revolution

Voice Up has proven that purpose-driven work reduces depression by 49%, anxiety by 36%, and mortality risk by 17%. Now we're pioneering the next frontier: how voice technology, audio content, and spoken storytelling can amplify these health benefits. Our global community spans 3,774 cities across 134 countries - imagine the impact when every person can access purpose-driven content through their preferred audio medium.

## Core Responsibilities

### **Audio Content Creation**

- Develop podcasts, audiobooks, and voice-guided experiences that help students discover their purpose

- Create audio versions of successful Voice Up publications (following the model of Wintermute's nature-based mental health content)

- Interview international students about their purpose discovery journeys for global audio documentary series

### **Voice Technology Innovation**

- Explore applications of voice AI, smart speakers, and audio interfaces for purpose discovery

- Test and develop voice-activated tools for mental health support and goal setting

- Research accessibility improvements through audio-first design for diverse learning styles

### **Educational Audio Development**

- Transform successful written content (like Matheny's children's mental health books) into engaging audio experiences

- Create audio resources for educators implementing purpose-driven learning in schools

- Develop multilingual audio content for Voice Up's global community

## Participation Options

### **Three Ways to Join: Volunteer • Academic Credit • Voice Up University**

**Important Note:** All positions begin as volunteer participation for the first 30-45 days to determine close alignment with Voice Up's core principles: collaboration, humility, precision, patience, and empathy. This assessment period ensures authentic fit before advancing to other participation tracks.

All intellectual property rights are maintained by interns.

**1. Volunteer Track**

Contribute your audio production and voice technology skills on a flexible schedule while gaining valuable experience in health communication and building your portfolio for future career opportunities in audio media and voice technology.

**2. Academic Credit Track**

After demonstrating alignment with Voice Up principles during the initial volunteer period, earn credit through your university's internship program while developing professional audio production skills and creating voice-based materials that demonstrate the health benefits of purpose-driven living - we'll work with your institution to meet specific course requirements.

**3. Voice Up University Enrollment**

Following successful completion of the 30-45 day volunteer assessment period, selected candidates with strong audio content proposals may receive stipends of $350-$750 monthly through Voice Up University, requiring commitment to a 3-4 month specific audio development project focused on expanding global access to purpose-driven content.

## Required Qualifications

- Current undergraduate/graduate student in audio production, communications, computer science, psychology, or related field

- Experience with audio editing software (Audacity, Pro Tools, Adobe Audition, etc.)

**Voice Up: Connecting People to Purpose Through the Power of Voice**

Our project is a first step in raising awareness about a national health epidemic. All proceeds are reinvested directly into proactive strategies for improving behavioral health among youth, teens, and young adults in collaboration with community partners.

We sponsor every day people of all ages struggling with behavioral health challenges that are committed to making a sincere change in their life towards their purpose. We match then with mentors for the long term.

Our youth, teens, and young adults are reporting the highest levels of loneliness on record according to the U.S. Surgeon General. Our work is going to help change that through simple actions that bring people together for the common good, focused on lifting people up, and creating stronger in person connections.
