Overview

Were looking for a Staff Electrical Engineer to join our Substation team. This role will focus on delivering engineering and consulting services for projects across the U.S. and internationally. Work will span from small distribution upgrades to large transmission projects. This is an opportunity to shape the resiliency, reliability, and efficiency of the electric grid.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support design of high-voltage (13kV500kV) substations

Develop proposals, scopes, conceptual designs, and execution plans

Prepare engineering estimates, schedules, and project deliverables

Execute physical substation designs: yard layouts, grounding, lightning protection, control buildings, raceways, AC/DC power systems, and material lists

Perform protection and control design: panel arrangements, one-lines, schematics, wiring, and relay panels

Conduct engineering studies and reports (grounding, load studies, etc.)

Develop equipment specifications for procurement and testing

Coordinate with civil/structural, transmission line, and other teams

Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance

Engage with clients and conduct quality reviews

Provide short-term construction field support

Contribute to business development and industry involvement

Qualifications

Bachelors in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) + 3 years experience; or

Bachelors in Electrical/related Engineering Technology (ABET) + FE exam + 3 years experience; or

Masters in Electrical Engineering + 2 years experience

Consulting experience preferred

Strong grounding in engineering techniques, analysis, and problem-solving

Skilled communicator (written and verbal)

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, 2D/3D rendering, and analysis tools

Strong attention to detail, organization, and collaboration skills

EIT Certification preferred
