Job Title: Senior Support Engineer (Technical Documentation)

Grade: S4

What you’ll be doing:

Working with a small team, the Senior Engineer – Support Engineering (Technical Documentation) is responsible for the creation of Technical Publications for submarine operations to enable the end user to support, maintain and operate the submarine

Support the Engineers (Technical Documentation) in the production and amendment of technical documentation for inclusion in the full data suite, and the independent production of wiring data suites

Undertake authoring tasks in the support of the delivery of Technical Publications deliverables

Produce technical documentation from source data using a bespoke toolset to support the Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) Solution

Working in close collaboration with the test and commissioning team you will be responsible for the creation of comprehensive test documentation, at the required level of detail, to support the Commissioning Lifecycle

Evaluate the impact of engineering change on support deliverables for systems and equipment

Undertake administrative functions to maintain records within the Technical Publications department and facilitate Technical Publications activities

Use engineering judgement to interpret technical data (produced by engineering) and publishing the output using bespoke toolsets to support the ILS solution

Your skills and experiences:

Document and record management experience

Understanding of UK MOD support methodology and experience in supporting MoD equipment as well supporting the delivery of technical publications

Analytical mind with a focus on attention to detail

Understand the need, and have awareness of Product Safety and SHE

The Test & Commissioning Team:

BAE Systems' Test & Commissioning (T&C) team is integral to the successful delivery of the UK's nuclear-powered submarines. Operating primarily from the Barrow-in-Furness site, the team ensures that submarines meet rigorous safety, performance, and regulatory standards throughout their build lifecycle. As a Senior Support Engineer (Technical Documentation), you will undertake authoring tasks in support of the delivery of Technical Publications deliverables.
