Position Profile
The Material Handler – Shipping & Receiving Lead is responsible for leading daily shipping and receiving operations, including receiving incoming shipments, validating counts, stocking items, picking, and packing finished goods, and processing sales orders. This role supports the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor and leads a team of 5+ employees, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company standards.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, effective problem solver, and team-oriented leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge & Experience
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Prior shipping and receiving experience preferred.
Ability to operate industrial power trucks and equipment (forklift, order picker, reach, etc.).
High school diploma/GED preferred.
Strong organizational skills for record keeping (physical and digital).
Proficiency with basic Microsoft Excel functions (reading/creating KPI tables).
Ability to lead and train a team in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Train and mentor personnel on shipping/receiving processes and equipment.
Oversee daily shipping and receiving functions.
Collect, prepare, and present department KPI data.
Communicate with carriers to coordinate shipments and resolve issues.
Support RMA processes and handle proof of delivery/tracking inquiries.
Navigate carrier portals to track and quote shipments (domestic & international).
Operate Packsize machine and various power tools (miter saw, nail gun, drill, etc.).
Facilitate A3, 5Y, and PDCA problem-solving sessions.
Report discrepancies to the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor and Purchasing.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
