Machine Tool Electrical Technician
Shelby Twp. /Utica area
Basic Function:
Responsible for wiring, assembly, and troubleshooting of electrical systems on machine tools, panels, J-boxes, and sub-assemblies. Provides electrical support for machine build, debug, installation, and customer site service.
Key Responsibilities
Wire panels, J-boxes, machine tools, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies per schematics and build prints.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, build prints, and engineering documentation.
Work with Electrical Engineers and Build Leaders to resolve design or wiring issues.
Assist with start-up, debug, and troubleshooting of equipment both in-house and at customer sites.
Support machine disassembly, packing, and shipment preparation.
Travel as needed for installation, debug, tryout, and problem-solving at customer locations.
Ensure high-quality craftsmanship and compliance with company and industry standards.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines (OSHA, MIOSHA, company-specific).
Maintain good housekeeping practices throughout work areas.
Complete required QC check sheets and audits.
Provide daily progress updates to Supervisor and communicate job status with team leads.
Recommend improvements to wiring methods, tooling, or materials that enhance performance and efficiency.
Order materials and coordinate with receiving when necessary.
Participate in continuous improvement projects and support special assignments as needed.
Provide training and mentorship to new employees.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma required; Journeyman’s card or Journeyman status preferred.
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience in machine tool electrical assembly, panel build, field wiring, and debug.
Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, industrial wiring practices, and troubleshooting methods.
Willingness to travel for installation and service support.
