The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a clinical psychiatrist to join the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. Academic rank and track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Position Overview

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) is actively growing and recruiting highly motivated psychiatrists committed to excellence in clinical care and a career in academic psychiatry.

OSUWMC has created a range of unique opportunities, with faculty tracks for individuals interested in inpatient and ambulatory psychiatry, as well as student mental health, neuromodulation (ECT, TMS), consult-liaison, addiction psychiatry/addiction medicine, neuropsychiatry, womens behavioral health, and crisis psychiatry.

The successful candidate will work within our interdisciplinary programs in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health.

Department/Division Overview

The successful candidate will join a 50+-member Section of Psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health. Our department is vibrant and growing.

Harding Hospital has 84 inpatient adult psychiatric beds, and our psychiatric emergency service sees over 8,000 consults a year.

We have an expanding number of partial hospital and intensive outpatient programs, and we are in the process of developing additional suburban sites.

We have a residency program of over 50 general psychiatry residents with plans for expansion and have fellowships in child psychiatry, addiction medicine, forensic psychiatry, and consult-liaison psychiatry.

Duties and Responsibilities

Faculty responsibilities are consistent with our tripartite mission - patient care, education, and clinical research.

This requires thorough knowledge of the DSM-5 and mental health diagnoses within the ICD-10.

The individual selected for this position will have ample opportunities to contribute to training, research, and other scholarly pursuits.

Other duties include but are not limited to representing the program or Department by participating in committees, conferences, and representing OSU at professional meetings and community speaking engagements.

The psychiatrist is expected to practice within the established Medical Center and standards of practice (policies, procedures, protocols), and adhere to key results areas of the Medical Center.

Requirements

MD or DO;

Successful completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Program or Addiction Medicine Fellowship

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine

Eligible for an Ohio Medical License

Faculty Defined

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), a doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research. ?

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.?

Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.
