Position Overview
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) is seeking a full-time, board-certified/eligible primary care sports medicine physician to join our team. OSUWMC Sports Medicine offers a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to the prevention and treatment of injuries and illnesses in athletes and active individuals. Our sports medicine physicians work closely with their orthopedic colleagues as well as with our sports psychologists, nutritionists, physical therapists, and athletic trainers. Our physicians serve as team physicians for high school, collegiate, professional, and recreational teams throughout the Columbus region.

Professional Setting: Multidisciplinary medical complexes that are on and off the OSUWMC campus. Collaborative environment supported by shared clinical space with primary care sports medicine, orthopedics, and ancillary medical programs. On-site imaging, lab, and rehabilitation are readily available. Procedure rooms are at each site to allow for the use of sports ultrasound, orthobiologics, shockwave, as well as other procedures.
Professional Responsibilities: Primarily musculoskeletal sports medicine practice with a mix of primary care. Evening hours will be a part of the practice. A team physician for affiliated community outreach sports teams (team and event coverage) is expected. Involvement in the primary care sports medicine fellowship is expected. Academic responsibilities will be defined by the candidates qualifications and interests.
Requirements
Board Certification (MD or DO) in primary specialty
Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in sports medicine required
Experience in primary care is preferred
Eligible for State of Ohio medical license
Qualify for an academic appointment at the assistant or associate professor level - Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical. These faculty will have earned a Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field. Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms. Their principal career focus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and/or research. ?
Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Their primary career focus centers on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD, DO or MD/PhD degrees may also be involved in clinical care.?
Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.
