Job Title: Digital Engineering Systems Architect
Location: Hybrid – 2 days remote / Base: Oshawa, Ontario
Job Overview
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a highly experienced Model-Based Engineering (MBE) Architect to define, implement, and optimize digital engineering solutions across the full asset lifecycle. This role will lead the architecture and integration of PLM, PDM, CAD, BIM, GIS, IoT, and digital twin technologies to support engineering, construction, commissioning, and operational excellence. You will collaborate closely with engineering, IT, project management, and EPC partners to ensure seamless digital workflows, data integrity, and measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Engineering Architecture & Integration
Design, implement, and maintain enterprise digital engineering solutions integrating PLM, CAD, BIM, GIS, IoT, and digital twins.
Architect end-to-end solutions connecting engineering design, construction, commissioning, and operational data for full lifecycle visibility.
Define engineering data models, integration patterns, and standards to ensure high-quality, compliant data management.
Lead adoption of Model-Based Engineering practices and advanced visualization technologies to optimize workflows and reduce rework.
Solution Delivery & Process Optimization
Translate complex business and engineering requirements into digital solutions that improve project delivery, asset management, and compliance.
Optimize engineering processes and workflows in collaboration with EPC partners and internal teams.
Facilitate workshops, training, and knowledge transfer to enable successful adoption of digital engineering solutions.
Project & Agile Delivery
Support agile project delivery, including planning, progress tracking, risk management, and issue resolution for digital engineering initiatives.
Collaborate with project managers, scrum masters, and engineering leads to ensure timely and high-quality solution delivery.
Continuous Learning & Thought Leadership
Stay current on trends in PLM, CAD, BIM, GIS, IoT, digital twins, and Model-Based Engineering.
Represent OPG in industry forums and conferences, sharing best practices and thought leadership.
Mentor and develop internal talent to build a future-ready digital engineering workforce.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related field.
10+ years of experience in digital engineering or engineering systems architecture, with at least 5 years in a lead/architect capacity.
Proven experience implementing PLM, PDM, CAD, BIM, and Model-Based Engineering solutions in asset-intensive or project-driven industries (energy, utilities, infrastructure, construction).
Hands-on expertise with engineering platforms (e.g., Siemens Teamcenter, SAP PLM, Autodesk, Bentley, Aveva, Hexagon, ESRI).
Strong knowledge of engineering lifecycle management, data governance, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance.
Experience with agile delivery, change management, and cross-functional stakeholder engagement.
Recognized certifications in PLM, BIM, MBE, PMP, Agile, or TOGAF are highly desirable.
