POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the supervision and direction involving the supply, processing, reprocessing and sterilization of supplies and instruments used in the sterile procedures within Surgery and other patient care areas. Responsible for maintaining appropriate levels of supplies and instruments required for sterile procedures. Responsible for maintaining a perpetual inventory via a computerized inventory management system.

Special Considerations/Age Specifications: Age legend not applicable. This position has no responsibility for the assessment, treatment of care of patients. However, the ability to communicate and interact with patients of all ages is required.

CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and the hospital. Works with supervisor/manager and other members of section or department to promote a harmonious work environment. Ensures that all contacts with patients, the public, physicians and other hospital personnel are carried out in a friendly, courteous, helpful and considerate manner. Answers telephones in a prompt and courteous manner. Displays concern and provides assistance or explains procedures as appropriate to callers or in face-to-face situations. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works with customers to identify problem areas and recommend solutions.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (including required licenses/certifications, education and job knowledge/experience):

High School Diploma or equivalent

Central Service Technician Certification

Two (2) years experience working in a Central Sterile environment

Must have organizing, prioritizing and basic management skills

Must have good English communication, both written and oral, skills

Must be able to work in stressful and emergent situations
