New Grad RNs and LVN's welcome to apply! The Nurse Surgery Scheduler plays a critical role in the coordination and scheduling of surgical procedures within the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This position combines clinical nursing knowledge with administrative expertise to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely scheduling of surgical cases. The role requires close collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia providers, operating room staff, and patients to ensure seamless care delivery.Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and schedule all surgical procedures in the ASC, ensuring accuracy and adherence to surgeon preferences and block times.
Verify all necessary preoperative documentation, including history and physical, consents, diagnostic tests, and clearances.
Serve as the point of contact for physicians offices, answering questions and providing scheduling support.
Review patient charts and ensure all clinical criteria are met prior to scheduling.
Communicate effectively with patients regarding surgery dates, times, and pre-operative instructions.
Collaborate with pre-op, OR, and recovery room teams to optimize daily case flow and resource utilization.
Maintain up-to-date records in the scheduling software system (e.g., SIS, Cerner, EPIC).
Monitor case volume trends and assist leadership in maximizing OR utilization.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to scheduling accuracy and patient flow.
Comply with HIPAA and all regulatory requirements related to patient privacy and data handling.Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
Licensure: Current RN or LVN license in the state of CA
Experience: Minimum 2 years of healthcare experience; perioperative or ambulatory surgery experience preferred.
Skills:
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in EHR and scheduling systems.
Knowledge of surgical terminology and procedures.
Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Typical office and clinical environment within an ASC.
Sitting, standing, and walking for prolonged periods.
Use of computer and telephone daily.
Occasional lifting of files or small equipment (<25 lbs).Schedule:
Monday to Friday, day shift.
