Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Rope Access Blade Repair Technician (Tech 2) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing intermediate-level inspections, maintenance and repairs on wind turbine blades using rope access techniques. The Tech 2 technician serves as a key team member, bridging the gap between entry-level technicians and senior-level leaders as they help lead tasks, ensure safety protocols are followed, and support Tech 1 and Tech 3 team members. This role will require 100% travel.
Key Responsibilities:
Blade Inspections and Repairs
Conduct visual inspections of wind turbine blades to identify damage, wear, or other maintenance needs
Execute repair tasks such as sanding, filling, laminating, patching, finishing, and Leading-Edge Protection (LEP)
Rope Access Operations
Carry out rope access tasks safely and efficiently in accordance with IRATA and/or SPRAT Level 2 standards
Assist in rigging and anchor setup, ensuring proper systems are in place for safe operations
Provide guidance to Tech 1 technicians on rope access and blade repair techniques
Safety and Compliance
Adhere to all company and industry standards, including maintaining proper PPE and following fall protection protocols
Conduct and assist with Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and hazard assessments on-site
Identify and mitigate risks associated with rope access and blade repair work
Team Collaboration and Development
Work closely with Tech 3 leaders to ensure work is completed on schedule and meets quality standards
Assist in training and mentoring Tech 1 technicians on basic tasks and safety protocols
Act as a reliable team member, contributing to the success of the project
Participate in ongoing training to improve technical skills and advance in certification levels
Documentation and Reporting
Document repair work, including the use of resins, materials, and equipment
Provide detailed reports of inspections and repair tasks to supervisors
Maintain logs for personal and team certifications, equipment use, and blade condition data
Qualifications, Experience and Requirements:
Qualifications and Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent is required
Must be at a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in wind turbine blade repair is required
IRATA and or SPRAT Rope Access Level 2 certification(s) required
Global Wind Organization Basic Safety Training (GWO BST) required; NPFA 70 is preferred
Global Wind Organization Advanced Rescue Training (GWO ART) is preferred
Proficiency in rope access techniques and intermediate repair procedures
Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record is required
Pre-access drug and alcohol testing required
Pre-employment MVO and Criminal background checks will be required
Ability and willingness to travel 100% to various locations throughout the U.S.A. is required
Technical Skills
Solid understanding of composite materials and repair techniques, including laminating, core replacement, and application of Leading-Edge Protection (LEP)
Competence in the use of tools and equipment for blade repairs
Work Conditions and Mental & Physical Requirements:
Ability to move, carry and lift objects weighing a minimum of 75 lbs.
Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights, including climbing tanks, ladders, scaffolding, towers, piping systems, catwalks, structural steel, and wind turbines
Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking and stooping
Work in indoor and/or outdoor environments in conditions of extreme heat and/or cold
Work in and hear industrial hazards
Must be able to walk, sit, stand, bend, reach, and climb
Remain constantly active throughout duration of shift
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively
Sufficient vision (close vision and distance vision) or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to investigate
Sufficient manual dexterity, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to perform in-field or office duties

Excellent physical fitness and the ability to endure prolonged outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Comfortable working at heights greater than 250 ft.
100% Travel required - Ability to travel to different job sites, sometimes on short notice

Willingness to assist in training and mentoring lower-level technicians
