Job Summary
The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for identifying, leading, and executing continuous improvement initiatives across the facility to drive operational excellence. This role focuses on improving efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and cost reduction through the implementation of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies. The Continuous Improvement Engineer will work cross-functionally to foster a culture of continuous improvement and facilitate sustainable change.
Job Location
This is an onsite position based at our Bulls Gap, TN facility.
Job Responsibilities
Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, quality, cost and safety.
Lead cross-functional teams in executing lean manufacturing goals and strategies for improving the operations and processes at the site.
Develop and track key performance indicators to measure effectiveness of continuous improvement efforts.
Facilitate root cause analysis and problem-solving activities to address performance gaps or process failures.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement by training, coaching, and mentoring employees at all levels on lean principles and continuous improvement tools.
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to develop and implement standardized work instructions and best practices.
Support new product introductions and process changes to ensure robust and efficient implementation.
Drive cost reduction projects related to materials usage, cycle time, downtime, and labor productivity.
Conduct time studies, process capability analysis, and other industrial engineering activities to support process optimization.
Maintain documentation related to continuous improvement projects, including project charters, reports, and improvement action plans.
Ensure all initiatives comply with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Other duties may be assigned based on the needs of the business.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering role with direct involvement in process improvement.
Strong background in lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and process improvement techniques.
Proficient in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g. Excel, Power BI, or similar).
Experience with continuous improvement tools such as 5S, root cause analysis, and statistical process controls.
Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing and six sigma principles.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong project management skills with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Ability to influence and drive change in a team-oriented environment.
Familiarity with ERP and MES systems.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to continuous learning.
