Location: Hybrid in Pittsburgh

Reporting to the Director, Grid Infrastructure and Engineering, this role leads the Substation Equipment and Control, Civil, and Transmission Engineering groups.

Responsibilities:

Oversee all Substation and Civil/Transmission engineering to ensure compliance with construction standards, company policies, and national codes (IEEE, NEC, NESC, DEP, EPA, CIP, RF, NERC, FERC etc)

Ensure proper permitting is obtained for design work released to construction, including but not limited to geotechnical permitting, private property rights, and all necessary state, county, and municipal permits.

Coordinate with other departments to ensure projects are completed in a timely, cost effective manner resulting in a high level of customer satisfaction.

Manage and oversee contractor engineering resources, work with Procurement to establish contracts and support bid events.

Monitor and report on progress of all projects, both internally and externally designed, to ensure schedules are met and coordinated with all other support groups for timely availability of equipment and materials.

Directs the establishment and disciplined use of engineering design practices, project estimating, and bill of material (BOM) compilation used by DLC and contract resources.

Responsible for engineering projects to achieve safe, reliable, resilient service and aligns with customer/project in-service dates

Develops engineering design personnel to be safety-minded, technically competent, team-oriented, and highly productive.

Ensures safety is top of mind when issuing engineering drawings and performing work (engineering field work, driving, etc)

Demonstrating effective leadership through staff development, budget management, and communication and collaboration with other departments.

Provides business-case support for plans and budgets including alignment with DLC's goals and initiatives.

Participates in industry benchmarking and engagement events (EEI, EAPA, NEUC, etc)

Ensures DLC is compliant with all applicable regulations (PUC, NERC, FERC, etc)

Ensure the necessary training and training materials are provided for engineers and drafters

Testify, as directed by the Corporate Legal Department as an expert witness at PUC hearings and civil law suits.

Ensures post construction reviews are completed on time and meet required designs for FAC-008.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Storm team duties as assigned

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Civil Engineering

10+ years of industry experience

5+ years of prior management experience

Proven leadership experience with a moderate to large scope
